AGARTALA: A video footage telecast in a local channel showing a CPM leader here lying on bundles of currency notes has left the party thoroughly embarrassed.
The footage, which was shown on 6.30pm on Thursday, showed CPM leader Samar Acharjee (42), a local committee member of Jogendranagar, narrating how he earned Rs 2.5 crore over the years by constructing 2400 low-cost sanitary toilets in three Agartala Municipal Council wards.

leader, who was caught on camera lying on bundles of currency notes,
has been expelled from the party for "immoral work" and tarnishing the
image of the party.
Samar Acharjee, member of Bankumari Local Committee, was expelled from the party for immoral work, tarnishing the image of the party and earning money by illegal means, Subrata Chakraborty, Secretary of Dukli Divisional Committee said.
